DARIEN, Conn. After a slow start, Darien 3 White was involved in another rough-and-tumble defensive battle, this time against Ridgefield. Ridgefield took an early 16-0 lead on its first two possessions before Darien's defense clamped down and shut them out the remainder of the game.
Darien was led defensively by Ashley Hagander, Ryan Plank, Owen O'Brien Teddy Brennan, Griffin Cramer and Will Harper. Tommy Bock, Owen Sharp and Jack Savage all had outstanding tackles for the home team. The play of the game came when Graham Purcell recovered a fumble in the Ridgefield backfield.
Offensively, Darien moved the ball much better this week, despite not getting on the board. Quarterbacks K.C. Felt and Ryan Blatney both ran the offense effectively. Behind great blocking by Teddy Christensen, Michael Aronsohn, Christian DaSilva, Savage, Plank and Brennan, the running back trio of Garrett Martin, Charlie Silsby and Griffin Cramer were able to play old style throw-down football, running the ball up the middle of the field.
