The team defeated Lower Naugatuck Valley 61-58 in overtime to win the gold medal. The USAD squad is comprised of rising high school freshman from Fairfield County. Scott is also the coach at Greens Farms Academy in Westport.

In pool play, USAD beat the CT Northstars (Hartford) 76-36, The Shehan Center (Bridgeport) 63-51, East Hartford Rough Riders 58-31 and STAR Athletic Club (New London) 52-41. In the quarterfinals, USAD topped New Haven 56-42 and in the semifinals, romped past STAR in a rematch, 77-36. In the championship game, USAD had a 15 point lead in the second half, but got into  foul trouble, which sparked a LNV comeback. USAD then found the answers for a thrilling win in the extra period. In addition to the 2013 Nutmeg State Games gold medal, USAD also won this year's Connecticut State AAU championship. The team wraps up its summer season this week traveling to Orlando to compete in a national AAU tournament.
