While the Darien High School varsity football team marches to possible berths in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship game and Class L state tournament, the junior varsity and freshmen teams are enjoying comparable success.
The freshman team beat Westhill, 27-0, to improve its record this season to 6-1. Their only defeat was a one-touchdown defeat to Wilton in Week 4. The freshmen have two games remaining this season against Norwalk on Thursday and against New Canaan on Nov. 18.
The junior varsity team, meanwhile, remains undefeated. Its latest victory was Monday's 21-0 win over Danbury. Quarterback Patrick McDonald paced the Blue Wave with a touchdown pass and touchdown run. The JV team is 7-0 with one remaining game against New Canaan on Nov. 15.
