Waters, a rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina, was one of three goalies selected to the team. Seven of her teammates on the Tar Heels were also selected to the team.

The team will train and compete in exhibition events leading up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup in Surrey, England. The team will be trimmed to 18 players to represent the U.S. as it aims for its third straight and eighth overall world title.

Waters played in 19 games and started nine in her first year at North Carolina, compiling a 4-2 record. The Tar Heels went 15-5, including a season-ending 10-9 loss to Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Waters, daughter of Cappy and Artie Waters, was the Connecticut Player of the Year in 2013. She was a U.S. Lacrosse All-America and the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Northeast Region Player of the Year as a high school senior.
