DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien High School Girls Volleyball team will play the 2013 Dig Pink game on Friday.
The DHS Volleyball program will play in the sixth annual DIG PINK game with a triple header starting at 4 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the school district. The match, which benefits Breast Cancer awareness, education and research funding, will be played against the Staples Wreckers of Westport, according to the release. The freshman teams play at 4 p.m., the junior varsity teams begin at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity teams take the court at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are available at the door for a $5 contribution to the Side Out Foundation.
"The Side Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, research, education and patient services," representatives said in the release. "Since 2008, Darien High School Volleyball has been a proud participant in the Dig Pink program. Materials about breast cancer awareness and education will be available the evening of the match and the team will also be sponsoring a bake sale with all proceeds to be donated to the Side Out Foundation."
Community members are encouraged to attend the event, wear pink, and cheer on the Blue Wave, according to the release. Donations may be made at the Side Out Foundation website.
