Darien won its first state title since 1969. The game was played at Ingalls Rink on the campus of Yale University in New Haven.

Darien (23-2-1) also defeated Greenwich for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship. And again, the Blue Wave got a standout performance from goalie Will Massie. He stopped 23 shots behind a strong Darien defense. One of Massie's best saves came with 18 seconds left, when he stopped Colin Kelly, who appeared to have a wide open net.

“I never thought this would be a 1-0 game and we weren’t trying to play it that way,” Darien coach Chris Gerwig said in a story on the CIAC website. “The clock kept running and we wanted to keep playing hard until time ran out. This is very emotional, it will take one or two days for me to take it all in."

Darien's team is Luke Kostrzewski, Harry Congdon, Scott Voigt, Brendan Cassidy, Jack Kirby, Nick Rohn, Riley Mullin, Kyle Canelli, Sam Knowlton, Henry Hathaway, Nick Tuzinkiewicz, Tiger Sullivan, Robbie Foresta, Craig Miller, Jay Dickson, Aidan Loh, Benjamin Brown, Matthew Smith, Maxwell Romeyn, Jack Pardue, Carter Joyce, Herbert Hazelton, Thomas Sulger, Alexander Kostrzewski and Will Massie.
