DARIEN, Conn. – Darien pitcher Devin Burke was named to the Pioneer League All-Star team. He plays for the Grand Junction Rockies.
Burke went 5-2 with a 3.21 earned run average in 13 games for the Rockies, an affiliate of the Colorado team in Major League Baseball. He went 2-1 as a starter and 3-1 in relief. In the first half of the season, he went 4-0 with a 1.65 ERA.
Burke is second in the Pioneer League in ERA, and among the top 10 in several other pitching categories.
Burke joined Grand Junction after completing his senior year at Virginia Tech. Burke pitched six scoreless innings in his most recent start, a 9-2 win over Ogden. He allowed three hits and walked one. The Rockies conclude their season on Sunday.
