The parade started at the State House and ended with a rally at the XL Center, with a crowd of 20,000 dancing in the streets.

The only disappointment was that Head Coach Geno Auriemma was not there — Associate Head Coach Chris Dailey said he was at home, sick.

Bob Joyce, the team’s radio play-by-play announcer, introduced all the speakers, including U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Gov. Dannel Malloy.

The team boasted a once in a lifetime senior class — Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck. They entered UConn in together as freshmen and were set out to win four NCAA championships. Stewart even predicted it as a freshman. She was the Most Outstanding Player in all four championship series, was an All American in her last three years, and won many other top awards. Both Moriah and Morgan were All Americans this year.

Stewart is expected to be the first draft choice in Thursday’s WNBA draft, with Moriah and Morgan chosen close behind.

The UConn team has won 75 games in a row, the second longest streak after their own 90-game streak. This year’s seniors have a record of 151-5, and that win total is a record for any class that entered and graduated together.
