FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- New Canaan remained ranked No. 1 in the Connecticut high school football rankings compiled by MaxPreps while Darien jumped up two spots to No. 4 after Friday’s big win over Greenwich.

Fairfield Prep (No. 9), Fairfield Warde (No. 13) and Greenwich (No. 16) are also in the state’s Top 20.

New Canaan improved to 2-0 with a 43-6 rout of Bassick on Friday. Darien beat Greenwich, 33-26, as Shelby Grant rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Fairfield Prep dropped six spots after a 48-33 loss to St. Joseph of Trumbull. Warde climbed four spots after beating Trumbull, 23-7. Greenwich (0-2) climbed two spots in the rankings despite its loss to Darien.

Greenwich plays at New Canaan on Saturday in one of the marquee match-ups this weekend. Another marquee game Saturday is Warde’s contest at Trinity Catholic of Stamford. The Crusaders (2-0) have scored  71 points in their first two games and are ranked No. 2 in the state's Class S playoff points race.
