Darien runner Alex Ostberg added another victory on the Junior Olympic cross country circuit Sunday at the New England regionals at Burrilville, R.I. The 13-year-old, who competes for the Wilton Running Club, won the Youth Boys 4K (2.48 miles) in 12:54 in a race held at Burrilville Middle School.
Ostberg won by 18 seconds over runner-up Jake Grundy of the Providence Cobras. Already this fall, Ostberg has won the Connecticut Middle School cross country championship, the Junior Olympic Youth Boys state championship and the Western Connecticut Conference Middle School championship. He will advance to the Junior Olympic cross country championships scheduled for Dec. 11 in Hoover, Ala.
Clint Corso of the Wilton RC finished 22nd in the regionals in a time of 13:51. Teammate Spencer Brown took 40th in 14:12. Wilton finished seventh in team scoring in the Youth Boys division.
