Han will skate for Australia in Sochi after an appeal of her eligibility was dismissed last week. Chantelle Kerry, another Australian skater, argued that Han was ineligible because she entered an event without the approval of the national body of figure skating. A report last month said the appeal had been denied, and an official confirmation came Tuesday.

“It is something that I have been hoping for my all of my life,” Han said in a story on the Australian Olympic team page. “It’s a dream that I think most athletes have, and very few are fortunate enough to get a chance to actualize that dream. I feel very lucky to be where I am.”

Han won the Australian national title last month. She also clinched a spot in the skating competition for Australia when she finished fifth in the Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany.

Han will skate in the Four Continents Championship in Taiwan later this month. Skating begins at the Winter Olympics on Feb. 7.
