Runners Step Off Sunday For Annual Darien Road Race

DARIEN, Conn. – The 35th Darien Road Race to benefit The Community Fund of Darien will begin at Pear Tree Point Beach on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m.

The race route, which stretches across scenic waterfront roads, will feature a timed 10K race and a 1.5-mile fun race called The Loop. 

Participants and family members can enjoy food, music and games at the finish line tent.

Participants can register online or by turning in race-entry forms to The Community Fund of Darien at 701 Post Road, Darien.

Preregistered runners can pick up their T-shirts and bib numbers at The Community Fund of Darien office on Friday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.

Runners can also preregister or pick up their numbers and T-shirts at Equinox Darien, 72 Heights Road, on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. 

The preregistered entry fee is $40. The race-day registration fee is $45 for individuals older than 12 and $15 for participants ages 12 and under.

Equinox will give participants access to its club before or after bib pickup. During the race, The Darien Boat club will provide a tent and offer use of its beachfront property.

The 2014 Darien Road Race sponsors include Eagle Point Credit Management, UBS and Equinox.
