Three Shippan Tennis Teams Pick Up Wins

The Shippan Racquet Club of Stamford enjoyed another weekend of wins as the 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under intermediate teams all came out victorious. The Tornados (10-and-under) blew away Greenwich Racquet Club 24-2 and Four Seasons Racquet Club of Wilton, 24-3. The Wild Fires (12-and-under) beat up on Four Seasons, 56-32. The Hurricanes (14-and-under) defeated Greenwich 54-33.

Terry McGrath and George James, both from Stamford, and Wassim Diour of Riverside won their matches for the Tornados. Aidan Reilly was a winner against Greenwich on Saturday.

On Sunday, McGrath took home an easy victory with final match scores of 4-0 and 4-1. Playing her first Junior Team Tennis match, Samantha Falcon of Stamford partnered with Shiloh Williamson of Stamford in doubles action to win 4-1. Ashley Humphrey of Darien played her first singles match against Four Seasons, defeating her opponent, 4-1.

David Orner of Darien won his singles match for the Wild Fires, 4-0, 4-3, against Four Seasons. Orner then paired with Christina Molkenthin of Stamford to beat Greenwich, 4-3, 4-1. Rishab Tandon of Stamford won both weekend matches, 4-2, 4-2 against Four Seasons and 4-0, 4-2 against Greenwich. Tandon also paired with Anisha Laumas of Stamford for a thrilling doubles victory, 3-4, 4-1, 1-0. Laumas, who recently returned from injury, also won her singles match on Sunday against Greenwich, 4-1, 4-0.

Charlie Brooks of Darien played an excellent singles match, winning 4-0, 4-0, for the Hurricanes. Catherine Hatfield, also from Darien, won her singles match, 4-2, 4-2. Catherine then paired with teammate Mariana Rodriguez of Greenwich to win their doubles match, 4-1, 4-0. Newest Hurricane Georgia Cassidy of Dairen also took home a great win in her singles match, 4-1, 4-2.
