Darien Man Arrested Twice Over Weekend DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien man was arrested twice this weekend after police said he was first involved in a domestic incident and then later violated the conditions of his release. Officers were dispatched to a home in Darien shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday on a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived on scene, they saw that one of the participants, 58-year-old James Ward, was lying on a couch in the living room and appeared to be heavily intoxicated, incoherent and irritable, according to police. Swastika Carved Into Tree In Redding REDDING, Conn. -- A swastika was recently found carved into a tree on a popular trail in Redding. First Selectman Julia Pemberton posted on the town's Facebook page Saturday afternoon that the swastika had been found carved into the tree. She said that town officials are working to identify the person or persons responsible. "THERE IS NO PLACE FOR HATE IN REDDING," Pemberton wrote. Stamford Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in October, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police told the Stamford Advocate that the girl's family reported that the girl was missing in October. She was eventually located with 19-year-old Adelso Santiago-Gomez of Stamford in New Jersey, and brought back home to her family, according to the Stamford Advocate. Long Wharf Theatre Artistic Director Accused Of Sexual Misconduct NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The artistic director of the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven has been placed on administrative leave after several current and former employees have accused him of sexual misconduct, according to a report in the New York Times. Fairfield County Gas Prices Keep Climbing Above National Average FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Gas prices in Connecticut continue to rise along with the rest of the nation, with the Nutmeg State moving up to have the 10th highest prices in the country, according to AAA Northeast. As of Monday, Connecticut gas prices are $2.68 per gallon, 2 cents higher than this time last week and 21 cents higher than this time last year. The average gas price in the United States is $2.54 per gallon, a penny higher than last week and 23 cents higher than this point last year. Lexus Stolen In Darien, Several Unlocked Cars Entered DARIEN, Conn. -- A 2015 Lexus RX was stolen from a home on Laforge Road in Darien this weekend, and several other unlocked cars were entered, according to police. Just before noon on Sunday, the owner of the Lexus reported that her car had been stolen from her driveway overnight. She said that she had both sets of keys, but one may have been stored close enough within her house to unlock and activate the car, police said. Oxford Man Charged With Shooting, Killing Neighbor's Cat OXFORD, Conn. -- An Oxford man was charged with shooting and killing his neighbor's cat because he thought it was a stray, according to state police. State police said that on Sunday, 48-year-old Craig Middendorf was annoyed at what he believed was a stray cat, so he shot and killed it in his backyard with a .22 caliber rifle. The cat ended up belonging to a neighbor, who lived next to Middendorf in a duplex on Roosevelt Drive, police said.
