The Aquarion Water Company has commended the main replacement project on Route 1 between the Metro North railroad bridge and Brookside Road in advance of a state Department of Transportation roadway resurfacing project that is scheduled to occur later this summer.

Because of the scope of the project, the water main replacement work must be done at night. The work will be occurring on Sunday nights through Thursday nights between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The project is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete, according to the Darien Police Department.

The Boston Post Road will have one operational lane in each direction during the evening and overnight hours, and traffic control will be provided. Minor delays may occur when traveling through the area. Use extra caution when driving through the construction area, as lanes may shift. Follow all signs.

No on-street parking will be permitted within the specific daily work zone during construction times. As in all projects of this type, some construction noise will be generated.
