FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn.-- .An air quality alert is in effect for southern Fairfield County Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

This means the ground level ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

Expect sunny skies today, with a high near 84 degrees and light winds, 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 61 degrees, and winds becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday will be sunny again, with a high near 86 degrees.

There's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night, under partly cloudy skies, with temperatures dipping to around 59 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday could bring more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Otherwise it will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees.
