As the coldest air of the season so far takes hold in the area, two storms will move through the Northeast through Sunday.

A clipper storm could impact the area Saturday night into Sunday after a coastal storm moves northward Friday into Saturday.

Since these two storms are likely to remain separated, they will be unlikely to bring a big snowfall to most locations, according to AccuWeather.com.

As this first storm reaches the coast, it will turn northward.

Most interior locations in the tristate area should be spared a significant snowfall from the first storm, AccuWeather said, adding that those living in much of the interior may not even see a flake of snow from the first storm.

Along the coast, a mix of snow and rain is expected. Rain may end as snow or a mix of rain and snow may fall from late Friday night through Saturday. If the storm unexpectedly tracks farther west, heavy snow could then be prevalent throughout the region.

The second storm is expected to bring snow showers and the chance of a small accumulation to the area from Saturday night into Sunday, according to AccuWeather.
