Scattered showers could persist in some areas in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low 80s.
A coastal flood advisory will remain in effect until 1 p.m. and a flash flood warning is still in place until 2 p.m.
Overnight, about an inch of rain fell in Fairfield County. Sikorsky Airport in Bridgeport recorded 1.59 inches of rain, and Danbury Airport saw 1.02 inches.
Other rainfall totals reported by the National Weather Service included: 1.63 inches in Fairfield and 0.70 inches in Bethel.
That is a far cry, from Long Island, where 13.10 inches fell at Islip Airport. Other rainfall totals in Suffolk County, N.Y., ranged from 9.8 inches in Islip, 8.2 inches in Ronkonkoma and 5.93 inches in Centereach, to 1.59 inches in Stony Brook.
The sun will return on Thursday with temperatures in the high 70s and should remain pleasant throughout the weekend.
