FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The weather for the Columbus Day holiday in Fairfield County is warm and humid but with heavy rain possible, but it could have been worse.

On Monday, showers are in the forecast for the entire day in Fairfield County and across the Hudson Valley and Connecticut as the remains of storm Nate move through the region, according to the National Weather Service.

But the heaviest rains from Nate will fall to the west and north of Fairfield County as Nate heads into the Northeast. Roadway flooding is possible in Litchfield County and beyond.

In Fairfield County, a gusting southerly wind of 10 to 29 mph is ushering in warmer than normal and continued humid air across the region. Temperatures will remain in the mid-70s under cloudy and rainy skies.

The chance of precipitation is 80 percent with a half-inch of rain expected, more with the thunderstorms.

On Tuesday, the sun will return along with temperatures in the mid-70s.
