FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After several days of temperatures in the 90s, Fairfield County residents can breathe a sigh of relief, as the heat is expected to return to more seasonable levels on Wednesday.

Wednesday will see sunny skies, with a high near 79, according to the National Weather Service. Dry conditions will continue into the night, which will be mostly clear with a low around 54.

Temperatures on Thursday will be even cooler, with a high near 72 expected. Skies will be sunny during the day, with increasing clouds expected Thursday night and Friday. The low Thursday night will be around 57.

Friday will see a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon, when there are also areas of fog expected. Otherwise, the day will be cloudy, with a high near 66. There is a 40 percent chance of rain on Friday night, as well as expected areas of fog. Otherwise it will be cloudy with a low around 60.

There is a chance of a rainy and moderately warm weekend in store. Saturday will see a chance of rain, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 75. Sunday there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible in the afternoon. The high will be near 81.
