Hot, Dry Weather Bakes Darien After Storms Push Through Area

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After at least two lines of powerful thunderstorms swept across Fairfield County on Monday, hot and much less humid air will rule the day on Tuesday with plenty of sunshine, according to the National Weather Service.

Above normal temperatures in the low and mid 90s will heat up much of the region. There will be high pressure building into the region Tuesday night through Wednesday keeping things dry. The mercury will be higher than normal with the mid 90s affecting most of the area.

A sunny Tuesday brings 91-degree temperatures. The day's winds will be variable.

The air cools off sharply overnight under clear skies, dipping to a refreshing 65. 

Wednesday’s sunny outlook turns on the heat. The high will be near 91. Winds will be calm in the afternoon.

Skies will mostly be clear overnight when the mercury goes back down to 65 and winds will be light and variable.

Thursday arrives with the potential for showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise skies will be mainly cloudy, and the temperature will be cooler than earlier in the week, as low as 70.

Showers and thunderstorms will likely return on Friday, as will the warm air, near 84, under a cloud covering. 

Saturday brings the likelihood of more showers and thunderstorms, then sunny skies and 84-degree temperatures will brighten things up.

The possibility of showers and thunderstorms is Sunday’s outlook, when it will be partly sunny, and warm again, near 84.

The rainy forecast is 30 percent likely overnight when showers and thunderstorms could occur, temperatures will cool off to around 66, and clouds will persist.

The sunny weather will return Monday when seasonal air will reach 82.
