Temperatures are expected to climb into the 80s along the coast and the lower 90s most everywhere else, with a high of 92 predicted for the area, according to the National Weather Service. The humidity will make it feel warmer for most areas, with heat index values in excess of 95 expected.
The skies will be mostly sunny, but an approaching cold front could trigger some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, mainly after 3 p.m. A few of these storms could be strong or possibly severe, and could last into this evening. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.
A cooling trend is expected to begin Wednesday and make for a much more pleasant back half of the week. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 52.
It will be even cooler on Thursday, when the high will be near 71. The skies are expected to be sunny on Thursday, while the night will be partly cloudy with a low around 56.
Friday could see a 50 percent chance of showers, but otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 70. Friday night will also have a 50 percent chance of showers and a low near 60.
