Thunderstorms Will Rumble Into Darien

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Our stretch of sunny weather will end as rain returns Friday evening with thunderstorms rolling in, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain will be returning to the region Friday, says the National Weather Service. But that's good news to first responders who have been under a Red Flag alert because of the dry and windy conditions.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move in mainly after 6 p.m. Friday. There is a 60 percent chance of showers into the evening, the weather service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely with patchy fog after midnight. The overnight low will be about 55 degrees.

Rain is actually good news for Fairfield County, after many days this week with Red Flag Alerts and brush fires reported in several towns.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a high in the upper 60s. By Saturday night, it should be mostly clear but temperatures will drop to 40 degrees or lower.

The sun comes back on Sunday and highs will be in the low 60s.

But don’t put away your umbrella yet; the rain returns Monday and hangs around until Tuesday.
