DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Senior Center is hosting the following programs for residents to get ready for the holidays, to exercise and to have fun.
Ox Ridge School Fourth Grade Brownie Troop Friday at 1 p.m.
The Ox Ridge School fourth grade Brownie Troop will bring a craft and will be decorating trees and ornaments for the Yerwood Center in Stamford for their annual Holiday Party for low-income families.
New Zumba class Friday at 12:30 p.m.
Certified personal trainer and Zumba instructor Ginger Corbett will begin a weekly Zumba class beginning Friday with a free introductory class. Corbett teaches Zumba at local YMCAs as well as privately. Zumba incorporates different rhythms and beats from various parts of the world. Corbett will have participants up, following steps and having fun. Classes will be held every Friday and will cost $4 beginning Dec. 11.
Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association: Holiday Stress Busters Monday at 11 a.m.
Are the fast approaching holidays filling you with visions of stress and dread rather than family, friends and happiness? Make an early New Year’s resolution to simplify your life. RVNA will be at the senior center to present some simple strategies to diffuse the stress - from mood-brightening foods to survival strategies.
Sophistication Band Entertains Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
Patrick and Jane Marino will visit the center to perform the sounds of Big band jazz, ballroom music, 50s, Latin and pop music. Come kick off the season with some fun, friends and dancing.
Stamford Hospital Lunch And Learn: Strokes Explained By Dr. Resor, Tuesday, Dec. 15 at noon
A free lunch will be served at noon, with the program following at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Resor of Stamford Hospital will present an informative program on strokes and their impact on older adults, with a presentation and overview of several types of strokes, their effects and the prognosis for stroke victims.
The Darien Senior Center is located at 2 Renshaw Road.
