DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Arts Center Stage will present its production of Larry Shue's "The Nerd" on weekends in November.
"The Nerd" tells the story of Willum Cubbert, a young architect who becomes an unexpected host to a hopelessly inept, frustrating nerd who overstays his welcome.
Norwalk's Norris Wakefield will play Willum Cubbert.
Darien resident Nova Hall will play Willum's love interest Tansy McGinnis.
Jake Smith, 12, is cast as Thor Walgrave, the temperamental son of Willum's clients. Jake is a student at Darien's Middlesex Middle School.
Longtime DAC Stage actress Deborah Burke of Stamford and Scott Faubel will play Thor's parents, Warnock and Clelia Waldgrave.
Stamford's Roger Dykeman will play the titular nerd.
David Ryan will play Tansy's wisecracking roommate Axel Hammond.
Bob Johnson will direct the production.
Performances will be held Nov. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 8 and 15 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at darienarts.org or 30 minutes prior to performances at the door. The DAC is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind the Darien Town Hall. For more information, call (203) 655-8683.
