The Y Games is a three-hour competition comprised of seven fitness challenges, which include a stationary bike race, a timed rock wall climb, an obstacle course, a 200-yard swim (for one - two team members), and other activities testing participants’ strength and endurance.

There will be two separate team divisions (family and adult) with four individuals on each team. Last year’s teams were comprised of groups of friends, local businesses, families, and Darien’s first responders who enjoyed a morning of fun competition for a great cause.

Registration for the Y Games begins Friday April 1 in person at the Darien Y.

To help teams prepare for the event, the Darien YMCA will be offering the Y Games: Team Training Package. This eight-week program is designed to help participants train, fuel and recover for the Y Games as well as gain better overall health and fitness just in time for summer.

Participants will receive 16 team training sessions, five health coaching sessions, eight yoga sessions, seven “Aqua for Athletes” classes and weekly email support; all exclusively designed for Y Games: Team Training participants.

Registration for the Team Training Package began on Tuesday, March 15, and the program runs from Sunday, April 17 – Saturday June 11.

All proceeds from the Y Games will benefit the Darien YMCA Financial Assistance Program. Last year the Darien YMCA provided more than $500,000 in financial assistance to children, families and seniors in the community, which included scholarships to camp and scholarships for special needs programs.

The Y’s goal is to never turn anyone away for inability to pay, and community participation in the Y Games will help continue to make this a reality.

The event will begin at 8 a.m.
