Emily Evans, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, will be teaching Cartooning for 7-12 year-olds from 4:10-5:10 p.m. on Mondays from Feb. 6 – May 22, according to program organizers.
Evans co-writes a monthly comic strip called “Polly Tries.” Her previous work experience includes time as a teaching assistant at the Bush-Holly House in Greenwich and work at the Silvermine Art Guild in New Canaan, according to organizers.
In the Cartooning class, Evans’ students will design their own characters and learn to use one-panel cartoons and three-panel comic strips, according to organizers, who said that lessons about television storyboarding and caricatures will also be included.
Students in the class are also expected to learn about facial expressions and body language, according to organizers, who said Evans intends to emphasize individual instruction and on-the-spot demonstrations.
According to organizers, the class costs $280 plus an annual $35 registration fee.
