Slowly, power is coming back to the hardest hit residents across Northern Fairfield County region, but many can expect outages in the hardest hit areas to continue, officials said.

Clearing trees, repairing infrastructure, damage to homes and safety with live wires seem to be the biggest obstacle for Eversource in restoring power quickly, said Frank Poirot, spokesman for Eversource.

Since the storm roared through the area on Tuesday, the company has restored power to 90,000, he said.

"We know that doesn't help if your power is still out, but we are working an quickly as possible," he said.

Some of the worst damage occurred in Brookfield, where severe damage on the ground was likely caused by a macroburst with winds up to 110 miles per hour.

To help, the company has brought in help from other states, including Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including Eversource and contractors, he added.

In Northern Fairfield County, restoration has been slow but is continuing. As of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the breakdown of customers without power is as follows:

  • Danbury, 6,307
  • Newtown, 7186
  • Brookfield 7,588
  • New Fairfield, 5,668
  • Ridgefield, 1,509
  • Bethel, 2,088
  • Redding, 366
  • Greenwich, 49
  • Stamford, 5
  • Darien, 6
  • Redding, 364
  • Easton, 2
