The accident scene on Delafield Island Road near Raiders Lane has been cleared, Darien police said.
Original story: DARIEN, Conn. -- More than 200 people in Darien were without power Wednesday afternoon after an accident with a cement truck on Delafield Island Road, police said.
A cement truck was involved in an accident that knocked down power lines on Delafield Island Road near Raiders Lane, according to Darien police. The driver was uninjured but remained trapped in the vehicle by downed lines, the police department said on its Twitter page.
Roads in the area are closed due to the downed power lines, police said.
The accident had knocked out power to 234 Connecticut Light & Power customers as of 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. This represents about 3 percent of all customers in town.
CL&P must arrive on the scene and turn off the power for the driver to be freed, police said. It was not clear when repairs would be complete and roads reopened.
The accident was reported at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
