Fairfield County Man Hit By Car Crossing Street

A 31-year-old Fairfield County man was injured after being struck by a car while crossing a street.

The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of 82 North St., said Det. Lt. Mark Williams with the Danbury Police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian, 31-year-old Nielson Rivas-Garcia of Danbury was walking across the street when he was struck by a car driven by Ronald Fields, 56, of Danbury, Williams said.

Ambulance personnel treated Rivas-Garcia at the accident scene and transported him to the Danbury Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

The collision is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division.
