Have You Seen Him? Robber Strikes Chase Bank In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. — Darien detectives and the FBI are working to identify the suspect who held up a Darien bank on Tuesday afternoon and fled in a white sedan getaway car, police said.

The robbery was reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chase Bank at 165 Noroton Ave., Detective James Palmieri said.

A tall black man entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money, witnesses told police. The note implied that he had a firearm but no weapon was displayed, Palmieri said. Cash was given to the suspect, who immediately left without incident, he said.

The suspect was last seen getting into a white sedan, possibly with New Jersey plates, parked in a lot adjacent to the bank on Heights Road, Palmieri said.

The robbery is under active investigation by the Darien police and the FBI, he said.
