Robert Houseworth, 59, was charged with breach of peace. He was held on $500 bond and given a court date of Dec. 29.

Houseworth has been arrested in the past for camping in the woods in Darien. Police received a report on Thursday, from a library employee, who said that Houseworth had caused a disturbance. An employee approached Houseworth, who was reading out loud to himself in a quiet area, and asked him to be quiet, according to police reports. Houseworth became unruly and cursed at the employee. Another employee also spoke with him, and Houseworth swore at him as well.

Houseworth was asked to leave the library and escorted by an employee downstairs and out of the building. At one point he swore again at the employee and mentioned hitting him, according to police reports.

As he was leaving, he brushed up against two patrons who were entering the library, including a 6-year-old child. The employee told police that his brushing up against the two didn't appear intentional.

Houseworth acknowledged to police that he had sworn at the employee and said he had become upset when approached. He was taken next door to the Darien police station for processing.
