The incident took place at East Beach in Stamford’s Cove Island Park, on Labor Day when the two nine-year-old girls were swimming at the beach, said Stamford Police Lt. Tom Barcello.

While the girls were swimming an unknown adult male inappropriately touched them, he said.

After the man touched the girls, they ran to the beach and told their parents. One of the girl's parents happened to be filming the beach at the time and managed to catch a picture of the man, said Barcello.

The man -- described a Hispanic male in his 30’s, approximately 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8 is bald with a beard and a protruding belly -- was able to leave the area without being caught.

He was last seen wearing a plain white tank top and maroon shorts, Barcello said.

"We are lucky to have him on film," Barcello said. "Hopefully, someone will recognize him."

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this individual should contact the Stamford Police Youth Bureau at 203-977-4639.
