DARIEN, Conn. — The Noroton Volunteer Fire Department in Darien recently took delivery of a new utility truck that will expand its ability to respond to emergencies throughout Darien.
Truck 35 is a 2016 Ford F350 with a full crew cab that can carry up to five firefighters.
The truck has compartments on each side that carry fire extinguishers, hand tools and more.
The truck bed enables fireman to utilize additional equipment and manpower when responding to calls for liquid spills, down powerlines and flooding emergencies.
In addition, the truck’s towing package enables Noroton to respond to marine and water rescues with its inflatable rescue boat.
Truck 35 was purchased with the help of a grant by the Darien Firefighters Foundation.
The group is made up of civilian volunteers and helps to support the town’s three volunteer fire departments.
