Police said that at around 2:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, an officer saw a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 speeding on the Post Road near the intersection with Old Kings Highway South. The area was under construction at the time, and numerous traffic control signs and personnel were in the area. An officer clocked the car traveling at 45 mph near construction equipment and personnel, and saw it cross over the divider line into the close portion of the highway, according to police.

The car was stopped, and the officer made contact with the driver, identified as 24-year-old Stephanie Canales of Norwalk. Police said the officer detected the odor of alcohol, and that Canales failed a field sobriety test. She was arrested and taken back to headquarters, where breathalyzer tests showed her BAC to be .148 and .128, police said. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and was released on a $200 bond.
