A Darien teen was charged numerous counts of drug dealing and manufacturing following an investigation by the Darien Police Department.
John W. Read, 18, also known as Jack Read, was arrested following a warrant search of his Shady Acres Road home on Monday, Jan. 29, Darien Police said.
The investigation into Read's action began several months ago after police received information that a resident of that address by the name of Jack Read was selling narcotics to numerous individuals, including Darien teens. During the investigation, detectives compiled evidence of the ongoing distribution, which culminated in a search warrant being granted, police said.
During the search, police found evidence that Read was distributing marijuana as well as manufacturing and distributing THC oil-mixtures made to be consumed in vaporizer devices. In addition, he was selling the vaporizer devices. Quantities of LSD were also found, police said.
The estimated street value of the contraband found during the execution of the warrant was approximately $6500. Investigators also discovered $400 in counterfeit $20-dollar bills.
He was charged with two counts of possession of a hallucinogen, sale of marijuana, operating a drug factory and two counts of forgery.
Read was held on a $50,000 bond, which he posted. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 9.
