Teenage Bicyclist Hospitalized After Hit-Run Incident, State Police Say

Police investigators in the area are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down a motorist who hospitalized a teenage bicyclist and took off.

An 18-year-old bicyclist was struck on Route 67 in front of the entrance to Market 32 in Oxford at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The teen was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New Haven.

After striking the cyclist, the driver took off, driving south on Route 67 (Oxford Road). Several passersby and nearby motorists stopped to help the teenager.

Police said that witnesses described the vehicle as a light blue, mid-sized SUV or van. It was being operated by a white man with short blonde hair who was described as being between 30 and 40 years old.
