White House Communications Director Hope Hicks admitted to telling “white lies” for President Trump during questioning before the House Intelligence Committee over Russia meddling in the 2016 election, according to reports.

The Greenwich native provided private testimony for nearly 10 hours on Tuesday, where she reportedly discussed her time on the campaign trail with Trump, though she declined to answer questions about other figures involved in the campaign or the current White House.

The New York Times reported that Hicks “insisted that she had not lied about matters material to the investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible links to Trump associates.”

Hicks reportedly refused to answer most questions about her work in the Trump administration, though she acknowledged during the meeting that she has “told white lies for the president.”

At Tuesday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the administration “(is) cooperating because, as the president has said repeatedly, there is no collusion and we’re going to continue to cooperate and hopefully they wrap this up soon.”

Before joining Trump's 2016 campaign, Hicks had no political experience. She was born in Greenwich, was a former model, actress and lacrosse standout before getting her English degree at Southern Methodist University.
