Stefanowski, a Republican from Madison, and Lamont, a Democrat from Greenwich, squared off on Sept. 17 at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. It was televised live on Cable Channel 24, WCTX.

The debate was hosted by the Connecticut Association of Realtors with News 8 and will be moderated by the association's president, Michael Barbaro.

The two major party candidates debated for the first time on Wednesday, Sept. 12 in New London, as reported here by Daily Voice.

They are running to succeed Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, a Democrat who is not seeking re-election in November.

Neither gubernatorial candidate pulled punches last Wednesday during their first of five debates before the Nov. 6 election.

Stefanowski came out swinging by labeling Lamont "a clone" of Gov. Malloy, saying he would raise taxes and tolls.

Lamont, a cable TV entrepreneur, swung back by saying he has heard no details about how Stefanowski would pay for his promises including income tax cuts. Stefanowski is a former chief executive officer for General Electric and chief financial officer at UBS.

Lamont also criticized Stefanowski's support for and from President Trump. "There's no question you have a very close relationship with Donald Trump and vice versa,'' Lamont said.

Both candidates have agreed to three more debates on Sept. 26, Oct. 18 and Oct. 30.
