WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man pointed a green laser light from his home window at Greenburgh and White Plains police officers driving nearby Tuesday, and was charged with a felony, according to a police report.
The White Plains officer tracked the light to the apartment of Michael Vicars, 23, on Tarrytown Road. He was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony.
A Greenburgh officer driving in a marked police car after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday said he was struck in the eyes with the green laser light.
White Plains police responded to the area and the light was pointed into one of the officer’s eyes, causing temporary blindness, according to the report. The officer couldn’t drive his care safely. When it happened a second time, the officer determined it came from Vicars' home in the Battle Hill area.
The officer went to the home, and Vicars admitted to pointing the light at passing cars, the report said.
He was arrested and held for court.
