Halstead has been using drones to showcase listings in Connecticut for nearly four years. As the first in the state to use this technology, Halstead has been able to perfect how they capture images.
This year, the firm launched the View Over Time videos series that capture both flyovers of the exteriors and detailed interior shots that show the best vantage points of the home. Used for homes in Connecticut, the Hamptons, Hudson Valley, and New Jersey that encompass waterfront and/or provide enough acreage to allow the drone to highlight the property, the drone can shoot homes from 50-200 feet above.
“It’s all about marketing and showcasing a home,” says Matthew J. Leone, Director of Web Marketing and Social Media for Halstead. “This technology, which is akin in many ways to a big budget film, allows a buyer to really get a sense of the space of a home and help narrow down their search process.”
The drone is flown by an experienced operator who has been shooting homes for a number of years. The photographs and videos are then used in various mediums, including on Halstead ProperTV, Halstead’s video minisite on Halstead.com.
The drones have been successful in increasing the views of Halstead’s exclusive listings, resulting in more than three times the views. Sellers have been thrilled with the technology that truly shows that Halstead is on the cutting edge of technology and willing to think outside the box to effectively market and sell a home.
"Our wonderful and innovative use of drones has been instrumental in our success of selling uniquely situated properties like waterfronts, golf courses or estates whose value can not be recognized or maximized by using traditional photography,” said Becky Munro of Halstead's Darien office. "We had one of our best shots ever take by a drone that was able to capture not only the photo, but the feeling of what it must be like to live in a waterfront home directly from the water’s view. The drone operator was a little nervous about flying over the water, but it was well worth it.”
