DARIEN, Conn. – Students and faculty members at Royle Elementary School in Darien recently raised more than $24,000 for the American Heart Association.
For the seventh consecutive year, Royle Elementary supported the annual Jump Rope for Heart event.
"Every year I'm so proud to be part of the Royle family and I'd like to thank the parents and the kids for their amazing generosity,” said Jill Cardamone, event organizer and a physical education at the school, said in a press release.
The community raised $24,185, all of which will go toward research, Cardamone said.
“For every $50 we raise, we save a life, which means the kids here saved 484 lives this year."
The event also encourages children to exercise and make healthier eating choices.
