Ox Ridge Elementary In Darien Closed Due To Water Main Break

DARIEN, Conn. — Ox Ridge Elementary School in Darien is closed for Monday, Jan. 4, due to a water main break on Mansfield Avenue/Route 124.

All other schools are open Monday at regular times. 

Ox Ridge Elementary is located at 395 Mansfield Ave. 

According to the Darien Times, the break in a 12-inch water main at Mansfield Avenue and Half Mile Road is affecting about 200 customers, including the school.

Aquarion Spokesman Peter Fazekas said he estimates that service will be restored at 10:30 a.m. Service to customers was shut off at 6:30 a.m. following the discovery of the break, he told the Daily Voice.

Aquarion said streets feeling the impact Monday morning include: Cloudy Lane, Crooked Mile Road, Half Mile Road, Mansfield Avenue, Shagbark Road, Stephen Mather Road, Tower Drive, Tower Lane, Valley Forge Road and Wrenfield Lane, the Times reported.

Today is the first day back in class for students after the Christmas break. While Darien Public Schools has not announced if students will have to make up the missed day, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dan Brenner said the district is exploring its options and should have more information for students and parents later Monday.
