MaxPreps Features Darien's Evanchick Among Nation's Top Sack Artists

DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien High School senior Mark Evanchick is featured in a MaxPreps’ video of the top five returning sack artists in high school football.

Evanchick had 25 sacks last year, tied for first among returning players. He had 80 tackles and led the Blue Wave to a 12-1 record in2014. Evanchick was listed at 6-feet, 228 pounds in last year's team roster.

Darien opens its season on Sept. 12 at Hillhouse in New Haven. Darien enters the year as the state’s top-ranked team by MaxPreps. Besides Evanchick, Darien’s top returners include quarterback Timmy Graham (24 touchdowns, 2,525 yards passing last year) and running back Shelby Grant, who rushed for a team-high 838 yards and seven touchdowns in 2014.
